Caladium Dark in Self-Watering Pot

Dhs. 95.00

Meet this darkly beautiful Caladium — the moodiest Caladium leaf I've seen in a while. What you see in the photos is exactly what you'll receive. This is a one-of-a-kind listing for the specific plant pictured, so you know precisely what's coming home to you.

Deep burgundy base with bronze and copper highlights that shift under the light, and a small pool of green mottling near the top where the veins meet. The leaf shape is more arrow than heart — elongated and ruffled — which gives it a different silhouette from a standard Caladium. Caladiums originally come from South America, and the darker cultivars in particular have a painterly quality that's hard to look away from.

Well-rooted in an inorganic substrate inside a self-watering pot. One leaf currently up, more on the way.

Care tips:

  • Light: Bright, indirect light — dark Caladiums keep their colour best when they're not fighting for photons. Filtered morning sun is ideal; skip harsh afternoon rays.
  • Water: Top up the self-watering reservoir before it runs dry and let the substrate wick moisture up to the roots. No guessing.
  • Humidity: Prefers 60% and above. Group with other tropicals or run a humidifier nearby, especially in air-conditioned rooms — Caladiums are not fans of UAE AC.
  • Temperature: Happiest between 21–29°C. Not cold-hardy — keep well away from AC vents and cold-shocked corners.
  • Substrate: Inorganic substrate — clean, aerated, and root-friendly for semi-hydro growing.
