Amorphophallus Maxwellii (Corpse Flower Species)

Meet this wonderful Amorphophallus Maxwellii — a strange and fascinating corpse flower species with plenty of character for those who love the unusual.

Amorphophallus are the eccentrics of the plant world. As this one matures, it grows into a large, tropical presence with a single dramatic leaf perched on a beautifully mottled petiole, and in time it produces an almost alien-looking inflorescence — famously accompanied by a truly terrible smell (all part of its charm, if you're into that sort of thing!). It's a plant with real personality, and it goes through a natural dormancy each year, disappearing underground before returning bigger and better the next season. A brilliant piece for collectors of the weird and wonderful.

These little ones are grown from seed right here in the UAE, so they're already well-acclimated to local conditions. You can choose between two setups: our premium chunky aroid soil mix in a nursery pot, or PON in a self-watering pot for a cleaner, lower-maintenance option — pick whichever suits your growing style.

Care tips:

• Light: Bright indirect light is ideal — a spot with plenty of light but shielded from harsh direct afternoon sun will keep it happy.
• Water: In the soil setup, water thoroughly when the top couple of centimetres feel dry; in the PON self-watering pot, keep the reservoir topped up and let it drop nearly empty before refilling. During dormancy, reduce watering significantly and let the tuber rest. Taking it out of the substrate completely and storing it in a cool dry area works great as well. 
• Humidity: It appreciates moderate to high humidity around 60% or above, though it's fairly forgiving once established.
• Temperature: Keep it warm and above 18°C year-round. Not cold-hardy and won't tolerate cold drafts.
• Substrate: Thrives in a rich, chunky, well-draining mix — the aroid soil blend or PON it's already growing in works beautifully; just avoid anything dense or waterlogged.
